The Festival of Performance and Performing Arts Perforacije will take place for the 17th time from June 24 to 28.
Perforacije is a space for artistic experimentation and exploration, and one of the festival’s key goals is to provide production and co-production support to the independent art scene. Four premieres and three re-runs, along with the essential Night of Performance, will transform Zagreb into a performance hub where cultures, stories, artistic expressions, and media intertwine.
This year’s edition of Perforacije opens with the premiere of Jednom davno sutra (Once Upon a Tomorrow) by Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld, Bruno Isaković, and Mia Zalukar, held at the Zagreb Dance Center. The festival will also feature the premieres of Exercises in Compassion by Nikolina Komljenović and Fierce Simultaneity by Gonzalo Quintana, as well as the re-run of the play Things that Burn Easily by Vedrana Klepica, and the fourth part of Opera Commerciale by Sonja Leboš. For the first time in Zagreb, the cult play Angels in America, directed by Ivica Buljan and co-produced by Ljubljana’s Mini Teater, will be performed.
On June 26, the Night of Performance will animate the entire city of Zagreb. Focusing on construction sites as liminal spaces of transformation and the city’s immediate reality, six artists — Arijana Lekić-Fridrih, Siniša Labrović, Karlo Štefanek, Emil Matešić, Robert Franciszty, and Katrin K. Radovani — will bring their performances to city squares, green areas, and streets.
