Zagreb City Museum, Opatička 20
*The round table will be held in English.
The round table on the topics of mapping LGBTIQ+ histories (archives, exhibitions, collections, citizen donations) and collaboration between institutions and the independent sector will take place on April 24, 2024, at the Zagreb City Museum in Zagreb, starting at 2 p.m. The round table will open questions regarding the relevance of LGBTIQ+ heritage over time, tactics for its mapping and representation, and the future of LGBTIQ+ heritage in the domestic context. The discussion will involve: Tihana Bertek, the chief editor of the VoxFeminae portal and a worker at the Association for Gender and Media Culture ‘K-zone,’ Mario Buletić, a museum advisor at the Ethnographic Museum of Istria and one of the authors of the Coming Out Museum – COME project, and Stuart Frost, one of the curators of the Desire, Love, Identity: Exploring LGBTQ Histories exhibition at the British Museum in London. The moderator will be Saša Tkalec, a specialist in protection with experience in the field of protecting queer heritage.
The round table is part of the Traces of Others project – an education and cultural exchange program with The British Museum conducted by the Domino association in partnership with the Zagreb City Museum. The project aims to explore examples of best practices regarding the presentation of LGBTIQ+ history in museum programs and exhibitions and to create conditions for the launch of LGBTIQ+ collections, queer citizen archives, and virtual tours, as well as to encourage museum collaborations with citizens and the civil sector.
The project is financially supported by the City of Zagreb, while the annual program of the Domino association is supported by the Kultura nova Foundation.
