Domino conducts a continuing research on the history of political performance in Croatia from the 1970s to the present day with a special focus on mapping topographies of political performance in Croatia during the last 20 years. The idea behind the project is that the local artists participated within the contemporary social context by articulating political criticism through political performances, happenings, and actions. Because of this, by representing a wide range of artist’s activity and different approaches on social discourse, the project portrays a timeline of the development of a vital peacekeeping and human rights movement, the appearance of queer movement and its clear development in today’s fight for trans rights, the initiative for defending public space, freedom of media, continuous fight for women minority rights and also a more recent resistance to neoconservative populism. The project includes archive research conducted in collaboration with key civil society and independent culture organizations as well as preparation and the publishing of an elaborate open-source online database including public exhibitions, lectures and recreations.
