The 71st Face

The 71st Face je site-specific vokalna izvedba u kojoj umjetnik pjeva a cappella, koristeći akustiku arhitekture. Brije glavu i bradu, a zatim nosi kosu u zdjeli, ide do različitih mjesta jedinstvene kvalitete zvuka u muzeju, pjevajući repertoar pjesama, poezije i liturgije na jidišu, hebrejskom i aramejskom, o erosima, smrti i transformaciji.

Tobaron Waxman upotrebljava glas, video, internetske, jezične i rekontekstualizirane predmete u svojim izvedbenim instalacijama. Njegov nedavni opus uz izraženo poštovanje uključuje i hasidsku misao i proživljenu stvarnost transseksualne tjelesnosti. Iz ovih naizgled nepovezanih leksika njegov rad ukazuje na različite koncepte roda primijenjene na pojmove tijela, zemlje (tj. Izraela) i sukoba Izrael / Palestina. Od 2017. je zaposlen kao asistent Trans arhive pri Kanadskim lezbijskim i gay arhivima, dio suradničkog tima koji je stvara trans-arhivu na najvećem neovisnom LGBTQ arhivu na svijetu.

The 71st Face

The 71st Face is a site specific vocal performance in which artist sings a cappella using the acoustics of the architecture. He shaves his head and beard, and then carrying his hair in a bowl, he walks to different locations of unique sound quality in the museum, singing a repertoire of songs, poetry and liturgy in Yiddish, Hebrew and Aramaic, about eros, death and transformation.

Tobaron Waxman uses voice, video, internet, language and recontextualized objects in his performance installations. His recent work reverently incorporates both Chassidic thought and the lived realities of transsexual embodiment. From these seemingly unrelated lexicons his work indicates variant concepts of gender as applied to notions of the Body, the Land, (i.e. Israel) and Israel/Palestine conflict. Since 2017 he has been Trans Archive Assistant at Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives, part of a collaborative team creating the Trans Archive at the largest independent LGBTQ archive in the world.
