As part of the fifteenth, jubilee edition of the internationally recognized Santiago OFF festival (Chile), 30. and on January 31, Domino’s play “La Consagración de Nadie” (The Failure) was performed in front of a full audience at the Teatro del Puente.
Santiago Off Festival is one of the world’s most important art festivals. It is dedicated to independent and experimental performing arts (theater, dance, performance, circus, music, intermedia forms) and has been held continuously since 2012 in the Chilean capital, Santiago de Chile, and this year its 15th edition, entitled Insurgencia (Uprising), included guest artists from all over the world.
“La Consagración de Nadie” (The Failure) is a penetrating bio-documentary theatre play about Micaela Fariña, a trained actress and opera singer who never got her chance. Too talented to give up, too invisible to succeed, Micaela Fariña does what she
artists do when institutions close their doors: she has turned her invisibility into representation. The work intertwines success, talent, destiny, unfulfilled dreams, challenges, family, ancestors, displacement, mentors and love. Exploring the need to leave everything behind in search of the desired recognition.
Under the direction of Gonzalo Quintana, a long-time associate director of the Domino Association, “Failure” turns personal frustration into a universal interrogation. The seventy-minute performance oscillates between operatic arias and raw confessions, raising questions that haunt every artist: When does talent even matter? Who decides legitimacy? After all, what is the difference between an empty and a full hall?
La consegracion de Nadie was produced by the Domino association in 2023 as part of the Sounded Bodies festival and premiered at the Zagreb Dance Center. It has so far been presented at the Italian Primavera dei Teatri (2023) and the Argentine FIBA (2024) and New York’s La Mami 2025. year.
