Domino proudly presents the performance “All My Bodies / Todos mis cuerpos,” coming to KNAP on December 4. This intimate and powerful performance explores questions of identity, the body, and belonging through innovative stage language and visual expression.
About the performance:
“All My Bodies / Todos mis cuerpos” by Argentine director Gonzalo Quintana presents a powerful, intimate story in a solo performance by Maiamar Abrodos – one of the first people in Argentina to legally change her gender identity, receiving her new documents personally from then-President Cristina Kirchner. Conceived as a theatrical workshop in which Maiamar – a professor of performing arts at EMAD (Metropolitan School of Dramatic Arts in Buenos Aires) – gives a lecture on the body, the performance becomes a search for her own image. Through Maiamar’s story of transition, the struggle for identity, life under dictatorship, hormones, surgeries, and art as a means of survival, All My Bodies / Todos mis cuerpos combines humor, music, and archival footage into a documentary introspection of an extraordinary biography.
GONZALO QUINTANA is an Argentine playwright, director, writer, audiovisual producer, producer, and actor. Since the age of thirteen, he has been devoted to creating fiction in film and theatre. As the leader and producer of his own projects, his work is based on connecting different disciplines. His genre films have been presented at major festivals worldwide: Sitges, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, USA, Korea, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and more. In the field of performing arts, he has written and directed both his own and collective projects. With the documentary La consagración de nadie, created together with Micaela Fariña, the duo internationally presented their work and participated in artistic residencies in Italy (Primavera dei Teatri) and Croatia (Sounded Bodies). His latest work, Infinite Archive #1 UNSTOPPABLE, created in collaboration with Croatian artists, reconstructs real stories from the LGBTQI+ community on stage. It premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and represents the first queer documentary work in the country. The project explores the multilayered nature of six queer artists’ identities through a combination of performance and exhibition. Quintana also participated in an artistic residency in Naples, where he explored a documentary installation project about football legend Diego Armando Maradona and his connection to the city that worships him. He currently lives in Zagreb, where he continues to work on his artistic projects All My Bodies and Simultaneous Fierce in collaboration with Domino.
