After seven days of diverse programming, the 23rd edition of Queer Zagreb closes tonight. The festival will conclude with a performance of This is who I am , an interdisciplinary project by Australian-British artist Jeremy Goldstein and Argentine director Gonzalo Quintana, which will take place at 8:00 PM at the Zagreb Dance Center.
The performance brings together performers Cosme Fodor, Dmitri Barcomi, Hazem Header, Luna T. Island, Renata Dujaković and Robert Fenrich , and the photo is signed by Sanjin Kaštelan . A collage of personal queer monologues created in Zagreb, combined with documentary elements, turns into a collective stage confession about belonging, vulnerability and everyday life.
This year’s Queer Zagreb was marked by great audience interest and strong artistic voices: it opened with the premiere of All my bodies directed by Gonzalo Quintana at ZPC, followed by G Viktor Konstantinović’s play at AKC Medica, and Karlo Štefanek performed the performance 139 Letters to Noa Marlo at the Multimedia Institute. Nikolina Komljenović brought a participatory dance show for children , Which planet are you? , while Hazem Header performed with the powerful solo work Maneater . The reading of the play Waafrika 123 by the American National Queer Theater brought an emotional culmination. In addition to performance formats, a significant contribution to the program was made by the participatory exhibition Coming Out Museum Encounters , presented 23. and May 24th in the Ethnographic Museum’s Conservatory, and on May 26th, the project In the Footsteps of Others was presented, which, through collaboration with six Zagreb museums and the British Museum, articulated Croatian cultural heritage from a queer perspective.
This year’s festival edition thematically dealt with intimacy, repression, addictions, resilience, archiving and memory.
We invite you not to miss this final evening and join us tonight at 8:00 PM at the Zagreb Dance Center for the performance of This is who I am .
