Contemporary circus performance “Armour” by Belgian authors Arno Ferrera and Gilles Polet is coming to Zagreb
“Armour” is a performance that explores masculinity with the intention of redefining it and embracing change that opens the door to plural love. Through the language of dance and acrobatic movements, a trio of performers confronts toxic aspects of masculinity, especially its violent side, in order to transform it and open space for a necessary fragility. The strong physical component of the performance is at the service of relationships with others, based on trust and respect for intimacy. In this performance, bodies become timeless figures that, through tenderness and self-deception, find their own place in the world.
Arno Ferrera and Gilles Polet are authors and performers based in Brussels. Anaïs Longiéras is the head of production and distribution, and Pitou Faggiani is the technical director. The team explores issues related to masculinity and creates artistic proposals that deal with touch and intimacy, using elements of circus, dance and performance. Arno and Gilles develop an artistic language that questions and builds on circus and dance disciplines through concepts of support, transformation and care. By creating spaces for tactile encounters in their performances and workshops, they offer an invitation to surrender, discover trust and thus transform self-perception.
The work of three acrobats on stage questions the intimate relationship between bodies, which can be uncomfortable. Coming to the show means accepting to confront this experience.
