On Friday, 10 July at 5:00 PM, a public event dedicated to safety, violence prevention, and raising awareness of freedoms and rights will take place at the KNAP Cultural Centre, primarily aimed at women and LGBTQAI+ people.
The programme is organized by the Domino Association in collaboration with the Zagreb Police Department’s Information Centre for Prevention. It includes a discussion and workshop providing space for questions, an exchange of experiences, and practical information on how to respond to situations involving harassment and violence.
The workshop and discussion will be co-led by artist Arijana Lekić-Fridrih, who will contribute the perspective of her socially engaged artistic practice and many years of work with women’s experiences, and Ivan Zidarević, a long-standing collaborator of Domino, human rights activist, and member of the Civilian Oversight Commission for Police Work.
The workshop is primarily intended for women and LGBTQAI+ people, as these groups are statistically and through lived experience more frequently exposed to various forms of violence, harassment, and discrimination. At the same time, they often face distrust of institutions, a lack of information, or uncertainty about their rights and available forms of protection. The aim is to create a space where these questions can be raised openly and without fear of judgment, while providing concrete and accessible information that can be useful in real-life situations.
Special emphasis will be placed on empowering participants by helping them understand their rights, recognize potentially risky situations, and identify ways to respond — whether in relation to their own experiences or when supporting others.
The aim of the workshop is to create a safe space for discussing issues that are often left unspoken but have very concrete consequences in everyday life.
The educational programme is open to everyone who wishes to participate, learn more, and contribute to a safer and more supportive society.
