The Domino association invites artists, artistic (informal) groups, and all interested applicants to apply for exhibitions in Q Izlog, a public art program located in the shop window of the Domino association space at Petrinjska 38 in Zagreb. The open call is open until 13th March 2026.
About the program
Situated in the heart of the city, Q Izlog functions as a living interface between artistic work and everyday urban space: a place where critical thought, humor, and visual inventiveness meet passers-by and the local community. The exhibition program is dedicated to practices emerging from marginalized experiences, queer identities, and free imaginaries.
We begin from the conviction that public space is not neutral. Every shop window and every street surface reflects a series of decisions about what is allowed to be visible and what is not. Q Izlog questions this set of decisions.
Q Izlog introduces visual narratives into the city center that resist dominant frameworks of representation—narratives that have long been suppressed, neglected, or systematically silenced, and which precisely for that reason carry a particular aesthetic and political energy.
What can be submitted?
Form and medium are open. We welcome works ranging from installation, photography, text, and video to illustration, collage, neon light, and mixed media, as long as they are suitable for a shop window exhibition context and in dialogue with the street environment. We are especially interested in proposals that:
- question modes of materializing presence and occupying public space through play, irony, and affect
- destabilize established visual conventions related to body, gender, and sexuality
- explore the marginal, the invisible, and the systematically excluded
- actively engage with the street context and accidental audiences
- treat fluidity, uncertainty, and diversity as a creative starting point
Conditions
The call is open to artists, artistic (informal) collectives, and all interested individuals or groups without age or institutional restrictions. We particularly welcome applications from artists whose experiences include queer identities, migrant backgrounds, disability experiences, and intersectional perspectives that remain underrepresented in dominant institutional contexts.
Each applicant may submit a maximum of one proposal.
The fee for realization and installation is €300 gross (Category 2).
Production costs are covered by the artist.
Domino provides promotion and documentation of the work.
After the exhibition, the work is returned to the artist.
Window dimensions: height 155 cm, width 150 cm, depth 66 cm.
