On Friday, April 24 at 5:00 PM, a public event will take place at the Trešnjevka Cultural Centre, dedicated to the topics of safety, violence prevention, and informing participants about freedoms and rights. The event is primarily intended for women and LGBTQAI+ persons.
The program is organized by the Domino Association in cooperation with the Prevention Information Center of the Zagreb Police Directorate. It includes a discussion and a workshop designed to create space for questions, the exchange of experiences, and practical information on how to respond in situations of harassment and violence.
The workshop will be led by Davor Tor from the Prevention Information Center, with the participation of active police service representatives. Artist Arijana Lekić-Fridrih will contribute to the discussion from the perspective of working with women’s experiences and socially engaged artistic practice. Alongside her, Ivan Zidarević—long-time collaborator of Domino, human rights activist, and member of the Civil Oversight Committee for Police Work—will also take part in the discussion.
The workshop is primarily intended for women and LGBTQAI+ persons, as these groups are statistically and experientially more often exposed to various forms of violence, harassment, and discrimination. At the same time, they frequently face distrust in institutions, lack of information, or uncertainty about their rights and protection options. The aim is to create a space where these issues can be openly addressed without fear of judgment, while providing clear and practical information applicable to real-life situations.
Special emphasis is placed on empowering participants through understanding their rights, recognizing risky situations, and exploring possible courses of action—whether in relation to personal experiences or supporting others.
The goal of the workshop is to create a safe space for discussing topics that are often silenced, yet have very real consequences in everyday life.
The program is open to everyone who wishes to participate, learn, and contribute to a safer and more supportive society.
The program is co-funded by the City of Zagreb as part of the EU project GEAR UP! – Global Citizenship Education Actions to Strengthen Youth Engagement through Local Support to Local Authorities and Civil Society Organizations, accelerating progress toward sustainable development in the European Union.
