Škvadra – The Pogo Dolls
Dance is not dead, The Pogo Dolls are here!
23. Queer Zagreb marks the month of May with a performance program dedicated to the theme Criminal Queer. The festival starts from the premise that queer identities have been historically and contemporarily criminalized through laws, culture, institutions, and social norms. It explores how artistic tools build resistance, document vulnerability, and embody survival. The festival program, running from May 22 to 29, 2025, brings together international and local artists, including Maiamar Abrodos and Gonzalo Quintana (Argentina), Nikolina Komljenović (Croatia), Viktor Konstantinović (Serbia), Jeremy Goldstein (UK), Hazem Header (Egypt), Bruno Isaković (Croatia), National Queer Theater (USA), and Karlo Štefanek (Croatia / Netherlands). Intimacy, repression, addiction, resilience, archiving, and memory form the thematic backbone of this year’s program, through which Queer Zagreb continues its mission to combat systemic oppression and the erasure of queer experiences with art that is persistent, tender, and uncompromising in its testimony of existence.
