CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS:
’Truth to Power Cafe’ is an international performance event which celebrates free speech and political activism. The show is created and hosted by queer producer, performer, writer and HIV+ activist with ACT UP London, Jeremy Goldstein and directed by Jen Heyes. During the course of the show, members of the public respond to the question ‘Who has power over you and what do you want to say to them?’ before a live audience.
To date over 70 participants have taken part in the show in the UK and Australia, and are of all ages, beliefs, experiences and backgrounds. Participants choose to interpret the question in meaningful ways to them. Some like to answer the question from a personal perspective, whereas others prefer to talk from their professional or political experiences. Others talk about the use of power as a positive or negative force in their lives.
Also as part of the project we take photographic portraits of all our participants. These are projected into the show and uploaded to our website as part of an online archive of participants taking part in the show. The archive and photos can be seen here: https://www.truthtopower
